As the name implies, the Century is completely automatic. It's operated by remote control or a wired wall switch and powered by 100 Volts through the vehicles inverter or shell power. This provides the ultimate in convenience to any RV owner. Since the arms of the awning are spring loaded, constant pressure is applied to the fabric, keeping it taut in any position. In this way, the awning can be stopped at any extension from a few feet to the full 10 foot coverage. In its' fully opened position, there are no arms to obstruct your enjoyment of the patio area underneath. For safety, a wind sensor is provided with every awning that will automatically close your awning if a gentle breeze turns into a dust devil. With all components tucked safely into the attractive casing, your awning is safe from the elements even at high-speed highway driving.
Outstanding Benefits
In addition to your patio shade coverage, the Century is also available in a 5 foot extension to provide shade over your roadside slideouts or windows. Although the Century box is attractive and streamlined by itself, special end fairings are available for certain coaches from both Zip Dee and a number of custom-converters that make the awning virtually invisible. For the fabric, you have a choice of over 150 beautiful Sunbrella colors. As with any mechanically sophisticated accessory that is attached to your vehicle, there are restrictions and conditions that are required for the installation. The basic installation is simple: two or three mounting plates are placed on the roof and secured to the underlying rib structure along the area where the awning box is to be installed. The awning box is placed on and secured to these mounting plates. AC power is fished from the source (inverter) to a controller mounted on the roof or in a cabinet and the awning motor is connected to the controller. Although no structual changes are required to the vehicle, a good knowledge of coach wiring and electricity is necessary to bring power to the roof to operate the awning. In this regard, we do suggest a proffesional service center or converter. Please contact us for a list of some major converters. These service centers can also answer any question about possible movement of roof obstructions and any other service work you may need at the time of installation.
